A Day on Granite Mountain

Dyan hiked Granite Mountain today. I'm thankful that she made up and back, and that we have a digital camera. I know "geology rocks" but how many pictures can you take of granite bolders???

This is the base of Granite Mtn. Can you guess where they came up with that name?

A rock "face" only his mother (or a geologist) could love?

Yep, that's granite -- come get a slice for the old kitchen counter??

More pictures of rocks you're saying?? Trust me you have been spared.

Some nice mountains showing up in the background, though.

Early Fall color in Arizona:
Indian Paint Brush

I call this one "The Mission Statement". When you hike with Dyan it's always, "just to the next peak."

This rock face is near the top of the west end of granite mountain. Fortunately, the west end is not the highest part of granite mtn. So there will be more trips to Granite Mtn, I expect.

A nice view through the pines to the San Fransisco Mtn's where Flagstaff and the Northern Arizona Ski bowl are.

More Rocks!!!
Yes!
.
Then...... just a few views from the top of (this part of) Granite Mtn.
Mountains, mountains everywhere...

Hidden Valley Views

These pictures don't do justice to the real views, but it's a shot, as they say.

These were both taken from the road that leads up into our neighborhood. Everyday we go in or out we get to pass views like these of the Prescott National Forest.

This was taken about 1/2 mile west of the others -- this is the view from the front porch of a spec home Dyan was thinking about. Personally, I feel there is too much to learn and understand about this place to be deciding were I'd want to live long term. But this wouldn't be bad...

Anyway, you get "the picture"...
